Three from the future, three from the past, add the one you are in now and your lot is cast.

One of the oldest symbols still in use is that of an open eye in the palm of a hand.  Beloved as symbols of protection; The Eye of Fatima, Eye of Miriam, The Eye of Ammon Ra, Jyotish, and other eye signs are globally commonplace. Hamsa is the name of the protection amulet of the Middle East, and it is also a Sanskrit word whose roots ham and sa, translate into release and to be. Through the divine hamsa, the rhythm of the universe is connected to the rhythm of the individual and when the individual moves in rhythm to the universe then the entire universe supports the movement of the individual. The person is released to be. Hast Jyotish is the art of understanding the rhythm of the vibration by reading the hands.

The discipline of Jyotish is symbolized with an eye and connects to the Samudrik. The discipline of Kalp relates to the practise of rituals and is symbolized by a hand. It connects to another shastra called the Jatack, which is a knowledge of remedial principles.  Jatack of the Kalp division, is connected to the hand and the hand is connected to palmistry. Palmistry contains remedial measures to influence the emotional body. Its predictions are a cornerstone of current fortune telling practises, but when I gave readings, I used a deck of tarot cards and my introduction to palmistry, came through my interest in metaphysics and more specifically through the practise of Alchemy.

Einstein described the totality of human knowledge as a little black box and Hast Jyotish, takes you outside of the box. Time is cyclical, space is dimensional, and the vibration is eternal. The eternal measures of time are calculated for the dimensional states, with one equaling three and zero being a place of Nirvana, which is beyond space and time. Each measurement of one in the scale is a time arrow in its respective dimension.

1 divine year = 365 earth years

1 chaturyuga = 12,000 divine years

1 manvantara = 71 chaturyugas

1 kalpa = 14 manvantaras

1 brama = 12,000,000 divine years

1 brama yuga = 8,000 bramas

1 savanna = 1000 brama yugas

1 mahavishnu = 3003 savannas

The principles of reincarnation play an important role in the remedial functions of palmistry, but the system of the Ang Vidya still works as a method of personal awareness, independent of a belief in reincarnation or the duality, but as with the duality, an understanding of reincarnation strengthens an understanding of how the system works. The smallest measure of our time that links directly to the dimensional rhythm of the universe is a divine year. A divine year is roughly equivalent to three full (one hundred and twenty year) life spans. Our reincarnations reflect to the duration of one divine year into the future. The future lies in the active hand and the active hand is the hand you prefer to use. The inactive hand holds one divine year from the past. From one hand to the other is a time span of eight hundred and forty years or seven lifetimes. Master an ability to read the akashic record of palmistry and you can glimpse the past, present, and future of an individual.

If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then the hands are its instruction book. Upon every page of humanity, the Book of Life is written. The lines of your hands hold the record of your deeds. It incorporates the casual body as the primary in its divisions and the soul is eternal. Through the principle of reincarnation, we have many, finite, material bodies that serve the infinite, immaterial one.

The perennial popularity of palmistry has not endured the test of time because it lacks merit. To the contrary, it is a rare thing showing an impersonal assessment of your circumstances and therefore a valuable tool in structuring positive change.  A concept familiar to many, the lines on our hands, as markers of our destiny, write a karmic description of our dimensional being.

Karmic Lines

Karma is the name of the cause-and-effect law as it works in the astral dimensions.  The root of the word is kr and means do or make and ma translates into produce or create. Karma is the product of our own doing. Karma is the life we create for ourselves, and our current situation is the result of our previous actions. One’s actions in the present determine their situation in the future and in the cycle of rebirth and death, Karma is the first path all beings must walk. The second path is the path to understanding the vibrational rhythm of the universe, and it releases us from reincarnation.

The next illustration and chart show the Karmic Lines on the palm of the hand. In addition to the lines on the palms, there is one more set of lines on the top of the wrists and they are posted in another drawing. They have a relation with the individuals’ ability to direct and control the vibration. The nadi pingala expresses our use of physical flows of energy and the damani ida displays our use of the casual flow. The susumma sira line correlates to the product of our physical actions with respect to reconciling the duality and using both the casual and physical flows harmoniously.

The Karmic Lines are categorized into subgroups; major, minor, and secondary and these distinctions are used to determine a set of balancing cues. To interpret the lines, examine its depth of imprint, continuity and completeness. The deeper, more streamlined and prominent the line in question is the weightier its associated influences are.

The span of seven lifetimes is merged into the record of the hands and the changes to the cues span a measure of time greater than what we can see a single lifetime. Examine your hands routinely, like you would check your phone for messages, and be patient to see the changes for they are subtle, becoming visible only when you become familiar with them.

A divine year carries three lifetimes. The record of lives is imprinted in the active and inactive hands. These imprints are predetermined at birth and although they are predetermined, they are subject to change in the seventh life. The path of our karmic destiny is influenced by what we do and by understanding the karmic lines we can grasp what actions are needed to influence the course of karma in our lives.

In palmistry, the division of the body into halves is also used to distinguish your movement in time. Your active hand is the future, and your inactive hand is the past. If you are left-handed then the future is in your left hand and if you are right-handed, the past is in your left hand.

For example, if you are right-handed, and you have Saturn Line that is weighted more than its counterpart on the left, then there is a karmic disturbance concerning the influences of constructive criticism and love of truth. The degree of difference determines the force of the activity. Because of the dominate position on the right hand, these influences are active in the future and inactive in the past. It infers that reactions to love of truth and constructive criticism are manifesting as a conflict within the circumstances in the future. If, in the same example, you are left-handed instead of right-handed then the weighted Saturn line is active in the past, it infers that the karmic disturbance has already occurred, and it is an emotional conflict that encompasses the lesson.

Anywhere there is duality there is a balance and integrating the shadow self is a balancing act. An equilibrium between the two bodies is the connection of intellect and imagination, the connection of body and soul, and it results in a state of mind that fosters illumination. Intellect on its own is too controlling and imagination by itself is too chaotic. Balance in the physical requires a coordination of many functions; our nervous system, our eyes and inner ears, and when any of these parts is disabled, then balance is affected. It is the same in our emotional body. The balance between the karmic lines helps identify where in our emotional body, the disability is occurring.
