The creation of a master profile is meant to establish a visceral connection between the emotional and physical bodies and the elements of Astrology, and the Ang Vidya, are meant to guide you in this process. Because occult readings offer remedial methods of personal development it has a lot in common with modern psychology and the New Thought Movement. The next diagram shows how to correlate the master profile so you can benefit from both old and new methods of self-understanding.

The symbol for psychology is the Greek letter psi and the antahkarana of the third eye is known in the occult as the Trinity of Sevens. It represents the required level of intimate awareness the initiate should gain before advancing from the illumination into the predictive physics of divination. The illumination is the first step and psychological principles are considered before acting. Positive thinking does not magnetize manifestations directly. What it does is position you to react in a specific way so that by virtue of your positioning you are opened to receiving and directing the vibrational flow in a beneficial way. It remains up to you to position yourself.
As much as the occult has in common with modern psychology it is not quite the same thing. A good psychologist will hold your hand, carefully explain themselves and walk with you through the maze. The mind analysis of the Seva turns off the lights, leaves directions encoded in an alien language and waits for you to act. It is important to go slow and allow the conclusions to evolve in your mind before attempting a Lotus Marking.
The nature of the human condition dispenses some measure of dysfunction to every individual and there are more universal inclinations because of it. To know this prevailing nature exists also let’s stand that a state of enlightenment in one person means a state of enlightenment is possible for all persons and if this enlightenment is to be found within instead of bestowed from above then it becomes clear that every man is his own savior. This New Thought principle is alive and well in the collective consciousness and is better known as the self-help movement. The occult doctrine of New Thought is intertwined with the modern doctrine of psychology and the next set of cues represents a summation of some popular self- help tenants. Brief for a self-help discourse because the tenants themselves are simple and true no matter who speaks them. The hard part has always been in the doing.
In the process of practising the illumination strive to keep a sharp eye on what is obvious and remember that intuition is a companion to reason and not its replacement. Understand that the wisdom is distilled to engage you in the process of self-awareness for the purpose of enlightening yourself. When the Vedic scholar Sri Aurobindo spoke of the vibrational nature of the universal source, he also spoke of making yourself fit for the impersonal nature of its knowledge. This impersonality is not sourced in the vibration but in the self. The Dividing of the Way is a politically charged symbol of fascism, but this does not dismiss the original value of the symbol. That is a choice you make. The intrinsic cultural value of these symbols are why they are co-opted in the first place to inflict justification for personal bias. Making yourself fit to use the knowledge of the vibrational wisdom means making yourself free of bias. This is the importance of the individual making the journey of illumination themselves rather than depending on the interpretations of others. The Druids spent nine years in study and practice, preparing themselves for the ritual of Imbas Forosnai. Until you have looked to what is obvious in your own bias and educated your reasoning skills, access to vibrational knowledge poses personal and cultural risks. Do not shy away from the discomfort of finding bias in your self-awareness. These moments of discomfort are an opportunity to release the false assumptions made when we receive knowledge we are unprepared for.
We all share the same type of body and the same type of brain. As a result, we share the same mental inclinations and understanding these universal cues gives great insight into managing the decisions made as a result of your rational analysis. The decision is the choice point upon which the action is made. The three aspects of your being; physical, astral and casual connect to three psychological processes of bias, discourse and influence. Apply these principles of action to the decision being made in the conclusions to gauge the impartiality of the assumptions you have made before determining a balanced action to take.
Related to the principles of Seva and the devotion of analysis, contemplating the wisdom of the profiles and crafting the scripture of a Lotus Marking, is a dedication to character study and awareness. The basics of bias, discourse and influence are translated into three measures of action and the measures reflect a code of conduct when practicing the intuitive discipline of a Lotus Marking.
A rationalization is a thinking pattern the conscious mind establishes to help decipher and filter all the information it receives. A bias acts as a shortcut for the rationalization. A bias is the assumption made to help speed up the process of reasoning. It is what we use instead of thinking. In proper context a bias enables assimilation of diverse information, grasps the concepts within and recodes them into practical actions. Bias also helps to maintain objectivity, nurture talents and build self-confidence but rational bias can become twisted when mixed with emotions and when they twist, those very same biases intended to help you think, can seriously undermine your better judgement.
In Alchemy the number seven is the number of understandings. Take any seven examples from any discipline and in analyzing those seven, reveal a fundamental awakening to the principles of the discipline. Psychology has identified numerous biases but here they are reduced to seven and by understanding the Sevan Seven we awaken to the destructive tendencies of bias.

The confirmation bias is when you pretend to be seeking new knowledge but what you are really trying to do is find information that will suit your assumption. “Weapons of mass destruction” and “going down the rabbit hole” are excellent examples of this principle at work. The mother of all mistakes is assumption, and this is one of the best mind tools we have for making them.
A limitation bias is the rationalization made when judging a present or future circumstance by the outcome of a similar incident in the past. In doing so the validity of the original circumstance is removed to fit the new and, in the process, it becomes a mere shell of common sense. This brings us little pearls of wisdom like “if you swallow watermelon seeds, they will grow in your stomach” and the disassembled notion that two wrongs will make a right.
In full display when serving a conspiracy theorist, the conflict bias is meant to help people see and form patterns. Come across something that does not fit a known pattern and you are at a disadvantage so the mind panics and assigns one anyways. Together with a fertile imagination it allows a person to perform the miracle of making the face of The Blessed Virgin Mary appear on a cheese grill sandwich.
Thinking patterns in the selfish bias go along this line: It is only important if it is happening now or if it is happening to me. Peripheral vision includes more than just your eyesight. A broad perspective is not only needed to make a sound decision, but it is also critical to regularly stretch the plasticity of your mind, by engaging the new and the unknown, to stay productive late into life.
The first cut is the deepest and with the ignorance bias the tendency to stick with what we know overrules common sense. Here we have lost sight of the fact that personal preference and sheer insistence do not alter the course of truth. Nor do they make truth where there is none but what they will do is make you appear very unreasonable.
Eighty percent of people place themselves in the top thirty percent. Overestimating your own capabilities, adorning yourself with virtues you have not earned and equally dangerous, pretending your vices do not exist, are all engines for an arrogant ego bias. This is where small things that should have been easy blow up for no apparent reason.
With the help of the involvement bias our personal investment is limited and we can speedily paint several people with one brush. Guilt by association and cultural prejudices are justified with this mind tool.
Assumptions are crucial to developing your intuitive instincts and managing your biases constructively, to support your reasoning skills, is important for making those assumptions productively. Your intuition will supply the correct answer, but it is necessary to support your intuition with a rational base that allows you to formulate a practical action. A conscious awareness of bias greatly improves the critical thinking skills necessary to make the most of your Lotus Marking.
How someone responds to and redirects the flow of a discourse is the second of the action process’s three aspects. Common verbal discourse has six golden rules and when we think of communicating, we usually refer to a use of language to transfer the thought. Our instinctive self operates on a subconscious level so building your awareness to the rules of verbal discourse and applying its rules to the communications of our emotional body will aid in strengthening the reasoning process further. Motivation is fueled by desire and the many cues inform us of the power our desires have when they act in physical form. The rules of discourse expose the emotional desires behind what we communicate and recognizing a discourse failure in your mind map allows you to correct it before acting.
- Articulate emotions
- Refrain from reproach
- Use a moderate tone
- Maintain integrity
- Offer respite
- Listen carefully
Articulate. Words are often loaded up to slang a feeling and sum up experiences. People use them for expelling emotions rather than taking the time to articulate their feelings. By simply slowing your words the mind must slow too and when it does your reasoning, or lack thereof, will become clearer. Take time to prioritize and express your feelings through intellect but be careful not to overdo it. People use articulated emotions as an avenue for manipulation and a persuader will always attempt to move you to emotional ground before making the appeal.
Do not make accusations. The very nature of an accusation demands a retaliatory response regardless of the merit of the accusation. Conversational points are reduced to one being aggressive, one being defensive, and the productivity of the discourse is derailed. People reproach for many reasons. Some come about as an outburst to distract from acknowledging the truth and dealing with a sore spot. The less scrupulous will use them to find the sore spot and they are thrown at others, to demoralize, destabilize and obstruct progress in a power struggle.
Maintain control of your voice. The abuse of tone and volume in our voices is used to distort the proportions of the discourse. Use inner discretion when taking meaning from words and use that same discretion to filter the sound behind the words. The loudest voice does not always speak the truth, and a quiet voice need not be one of weakness. An absence of moderation in the agent of translation can mean a variety of things and all of them involve suppressing the truth. Attention to this rule can be a real eye opener in daily life.
Maintain the integrity of the purpose. Nothing erodes productivity faster than losing objectivity. Sticking to the point is difficult at the best of times and next to impossible with an emotional disturbance going on. A meaningful discourse requires all parties to be able to focus their energies, be supportive of a resolution and conclude. Deeking detection and demanding attention will motivate this kind of discourse sabotage. An effective method for controlling your own conversational integrity is to avoid punctuating it with words like you and me and instead use words like it and thing. To use possessive words pushes the discourse onto a personal track.
Provide some respite. Tackle sensitive emotional issues and a person can feel empty in a short period of time without fully understanding all the implications and consequences of what has happened. An overload of input leads to a nervous breakdown or an emotional shutdown instead of to progress. Give space and time for the surplus feelings that always liquefy during confrontational bouts of self-discovery. Adequate emotional ventilation is required during the operation of your vehicle and some things require a fair chunk of time in reflection before their effect can solidify in the physical. A person abusing this rule is either seeking to sidestep confrontation on their path of self-denial by taking way too long to do anything or they seek to express their power by refusing it to someone so they may dominate them.
Listen carefully. To hear is to perceive with your ears. To listen is to perceive with all your senses. All your sensual aids tuned onto the same target provides the outline for a skeletal interpretation meant to be fleshed out with intuition. Consequently, a dimensional, intuitive perception of reality makes it easy to see compromise instead of capitulation. There is always a way. Keep your listening channels open and remember in time the momentum of many small agreements will overcome the big one that sticks. Not hearing makes you deaf. Not listening makes you dumb.
Our personal bias shows how we think. It reveals our intellectual intention. How we steer a discourse reveals our motivations. It signals our emotional direction. The third aspect of the action process are the spheres of influence. They show how we express our intentions and motivations in the physical.
Our actions run like an electrical current along the path of life. Starting out as a cause and coming back as an effect with influence being the current of character. The spheres of influence are the rings of our aura, and they emanate outward from our soul to define our consciousness in the third dimension. The electromagnetic plasma field that surrounds the body is often depicted as a holy halo or mandorla in spiritual literature. This sphere is depicted as visible, but it is rarely seen. It is felt. It is the charisma we feel in others or project from ourselves as we move psychic and emotional energies to influence our surroundings.

There are four quarters of influence to every individual sphere. There are two strong interactions, the dominant and providing influences and two weak interactions, example and persuasion. Rarely do people use only one form of influence to manipulate their surroundings although most display a preference. There are varying degrees within each quarter and the combinations between the quarters are as varied as people themselves. The very best at influencing are adept at using all four quarters of their sphere interchangeably.
An awareness of one’s own reasoning powers through recognition of the discourse cues and the biases we exhibit, help us to understand the why of what we do. An awareness of the spheres helps us to recognize the how. Within the four quarters of influence our interactions can be measured to reveal the depth and reach of our characters as our awareness emerges and submerges into action.
The first influence is influence by dominating. This is the most obvious of the influences. It uses will power and brute force to overcome obstacles. There are a few measures of resistance to the dominant influence and result orientated individuals think in terms of the end. Consider the consequences versus the actions and state in brutally blunt terms the pros and cons. This will hopefully appeal to the bottom-line attitude and slow down the decision-making process long enough for you to think.
The second quarter is influence by persuasion. The power and force of the dominant influence is annealed to self-control and a person has finally learned that there is more to be had with a carrot than a whip and efforts are made to coerce, cajole or convince the other to participate willingly. Knowledge is your best defence in view of manipulations made with the persuasive influence. It will help to use a systematic and facts only sort of approach too. Insist on naming and keeping everything impersonal.
The third quarter is home to the influence of example. Here lies the favorite method of do-gooders. The emphasis in this influence is not so much on individual appeal but instead it makes its appeal to the larger group as a whole. When it works, it works by using the groups’ momentum to overcome individuals who disagree without having to face those individuals in a confrontation.
This is a hard influence to master without some sort of personal sacrifice, so it is not too popular with those seeking to advantage themselves at another’s expense. Its abuse is almost always a third-party action and by that, I mean those who have power with this influence tend to be easily duped by a persuader appealing to their ideals. The evil mastermind never straps the bomb to his own chest. He always looks for the misguided but well-meaning do-gooder to pony up for that job.
The unselfish act of sacrifice demands a deep, originating from the soul, kind of commitment. Counteract it by breaking the isolation of the intense self-absorption going on. This is done by framing everything you say with a question. The aim here is to disrupt the internal distortion. Counter rationalizations that expose the detrimental repercussions of the actions help as well.
Influence by providing is the fourth quarter. Those who exert this influence have taken the influence of example and shifted its emphasis away from appeals made by doing to appeals made by having. Leverage is weighted on one side with the ability to give people what they most desire and on the other by withholding those gifts in a display of disapproval when requests to reciprocate in a specified manner are not met.
The providing influence requires a lot of effort as well and its abuse is usually in the form of a Pavlovian bait and reward system. One if not both of the persons in a codependent relationship will exhibit a heavy preference for this method. If you are anticipating some codependent tendencies provide clear set boundaries for your involvement before engaging yourself. To be helpful lends to being needed and being needed lends to being validated outside of the self and being validated outside of the self is the root of codependency.
The four influences are predicated by certain behaviors and these cues are used to assess the preference for influence each individual uses.

The three processes of action help to exact a rigorous examination of the assumptions made in the analysis. A conscious awareness of their examination before scripting a Lotus Marking inhibits reckless actions that may have unintended consequences.
Our emotions regulate our behaviour and motivations, influencing everything from the way we drive and sleep to the food we eat and the books we read. The truth is always a struggle and learning the truth about ourselves often difficult, but we manifest change through that struggle. Desire is not a magnet, and attraction is not a source of manifestation but a result of it. Change is a result of action and reaction. The universe and much of what we experience is out of our control. Occult Illumination is not a magic bullet, but a method designed to connect the two bodies in action so that with awareness we can direct our reactions.
The fine line between the mystic and the scientific gets a little blurry in the soft science of psychology and there are aspects of the occult that upon closer inspection look and feel an awful lot like insanity. It is important to go slow and be patient with yourself. Our consciousness moves both in a straight-line and a circle, it is a straight-line moving in a circular motion, a spiral of movements. Bush planes, heavy with a load, spiral in graduating height to gain altitude. Eagles soar highest when they ride the slow spiral of rising heat. Weighted down in material existence, we too must move in a slow spiral of change. With each revolution we ensure that we have tested and cemented our chosen behaviours into action before lifting off. A balanced baseline of educated intellect and contemplative emotion must become second nature before we illuminate so that when the vibration picks up speed you do not need to slow down to stabilize yourself. Illumination is the speeding up of the vibration so that it generates light, and a Lotus Marking is a refinement of the light to energize action.
One of the three aspects of the Hindu trinity, Shiva is often thought of as a destroyer. He is the universal force that wreaks unrelenting chance and change upon the masses. While he is those things, she is a gender-bending Lord of Dance whose rhythmic ballet stomps down Apasmara, the dwarf demon of ignorance, and ends human suffering on earth. Shiva displays the power of illumination known in Sanskrit as Sakti. The root word sak translates into enabled and the word itself can be interpreted as cosmic power. It is a word used to highlight the psychic processes of change needed to illuminate your cosmic power.
Hindu deities have many aspects and an aspect of Sakti, of benefit to the illumination, is one that is personified by the goddess Kali Durga. The root word kal translates into incite and the followers of Kali Durga are known as the fearless ones not because of a reckless attitude towards danger but because they understand that the force that disintegrates the universe is the same force that creates it. They understand that it is necessary to incite the destructive principle of regeneration so it can remove that which is no longer productive. The upheaval of change is embraced, and chance is sought out rather than avoided. An understanding of the illumination, through the Kali Durga mythology, reveals the level of commitment required to maintain perpetual personal change in the empowerment of the psyche. It reveals the difficult path of self-illumination.
All this change and action is exhausting. The occult provides methods we can use to probe and investigate our own relationship to our emotional body and become aware of its influences before we act, mitigating repercussions. Change is not magically drawn to you. It takes a lot of effort and recognizing when that effort exceeds our ability is important.
It has been estimated only forty seven percent of all mental illnesses are reported and treated. The remaining fifty three percent of us either slip through the cracks or are able to compensate for our dysfunctions well enough to minimize their effect. The basics of mental illness can be categorized into three groups.
Men Women
Anxiety/Stress 19% 30%
Depression/Disorder 15% 24%
Addiction/Abuse 35% 15%
All totaled that is 138% of the population suffering. I know this to be a gross abuse of a statistic, but it does serve to illustrate two good points. One is that statistics are prone to manipulation and the other is with at least one third of the total population affected by one thing or another, the chances are pretty good that you or someone you know suffers. Fair enough then to say everyone has got something and it is more a matter of degrees than difference.
Human malfunctions are not limited to the most obvious of psychiatric disorders. There are other lesser signs to indicate you are in trouble. Encounter any one of them in your daily life and greater care needs to be taken to slow down and stay in balance. Periods of fallow are present in every garden, and they are just as important as the periods of production. There are eight stop signs of dysfunction and eight measures to employ while seeking balance. These are simple guideposts to use to self-actualize and see the illumination.

It was the third year in the self-awareness stage when I looked in the mirror and seriously said to myself “this is taking forever.” It took another year or so for me to realize that there is no end to this process. Initiative remains with the individual as to how best to respond to their struggle to maintain a balanced psychology.
Awareness is needed to help calm the mind as it shrinks and stretches in time and dimension. The mind field has to be cleared just like a real minefield before you can move safely into the illumination. Follow the source of light to its throne in the casual dimension and it will take you very far from everything you know and while it is possible to go psychologically unprepared, I cannot recommend it. It takes every ounce of concentration to manifest the illumination and when you are engaging the deeper processes of the occult, then is not a good time to be distracted by psychological surprises. The master profile builds intimate awareness and is used to crack open fresh fissures in the psyche and create deeper caverns of thought to explore. These intuitive insights must be balanced with reason if they are to benefit the individual and prepare them for a Lotus Marking.
